Ms Terry Taylor's recent paintings
reflect the pace of a modern world that values everything,
yet nothing for long.
The sixty small paintings of necklines (self portraits)
and Cardross skylines have been heavily cropped
with a strong white border that suggests the image
has been painted out and what remains for our viewing
is loneliness, a longing or yearning. The preciousness
of painting, the treasured icon is no longer. The
surfaces of the work are tactile and at times rough
which draws the eye in to investigate the layers
of oil paint and the light from the Australian skies.
The collective of Terry's paintings reveal her energy
as a profile artist with an intuitive ability to
tap into relevant issues.
